I went into this weekend planning for it to be pretty laid back. Of course, it was not laid back even though I went to a museum Friday night.
The weekend really begins Thursday night when I am asleep. Occasionally I have these incidents where I am half asleep and I think some type of animal is in the bed with me(kind of like in the Godfather), and needless to say it scares the shit out of me every time. I usually end up hopping out of bed and pulling the covers off to see that nothing is there. Well the same thing happened but it was a little more extended this time. I hop out of bed with covers in hand because I think I see a rodent beside me. As I am calming down and realize that nothing is in the bed, I feel something against me and eventually the realize the rodent is still there. I jump again, its gone, and then I feel something against me and realize it is still there. At some point I realize that the rodent is really my hand which is sticking to my body because my arm is asleep from being slept on. Since I was half asleep, im not sure how loud I was or if I was talking or possibly yelling at 4 in the morning. All I know is that my roommates probably think I am crazy.
The next night begins when I get off of work and head down to the Hirshorn Museum for this after hours even that they have there every so often. I am riding on the metro when this semi-attractive girl sits beside me and I of course just look forward even though she looks over a couple of times. When I get off, I try and tell myself the next time that happens I will actually say something. Somewhere around 7 hours later, this same girl ends up behind me in line at this Falafel Shop in Adams Morgan. I know DC is a small city but seriously? I start talking to her about how she sat beside me on the metro and she somehow doesnt remember, nor does I think she believes me. Her friend is all about it, but I think she just sees as some creepy guy trying to pick her up. So at least I was right earlier, I would at least talk to her if I had a second chance.
In between these two instances, I managed to travel from the museum to the upper regions of the city. At the museum, I bought 6 beer tickets imaging that would get me a solid buzz given that I did not have anything for dinner. I was correct but at some point they ran out of beer and I had to substitute two wines later on in the night. The wine really did the trick. We scooted up to the Black Cat in the U st area. The Black Cat takes the place of the The Guards on my top 5 bars list. We went to a second bar that had an entry fee and I felt it was justified. They relied on the 80s like The Guards but instead of Journey they got by on The Cure and The Clash among too many good groups to name. I really got after it on the dance floor with my 3-D glasses on from the museum. I did not dance with any girls, but I still had a great time by myself.
