I chose this weekend as the first time in over two months getting out of the Metro D.C. area. I drove home last evening to the foothills outside of charlottesville. Turns out it was exactly what I needed. Lots of people from the NOVA area seem to think that the fast paced and high blood pressure routine is simply normal life. I view it as a necessary evil, but one that is to be avoided when not constrained with work.
I went for a run on a long trail at the base of the blue ridge this morning with overcast sky, and was perfectly happy. Spent the afternoon building a fence in a pasture for a horse that will be moving in. Listened to folk music the whole time I was gone.
Weekend assessment from this contributor: Suburbia blows.
